Role Responsibilities:

We are looking for a great leader who can coach, mentor, and be an effective leader for our team. Our Engineering team has a wide variety of seniority levels, and an effective leader will create a culture of growth, motivation, and accomplishment across the ranks.

As CTO you will lead a team of 30-40 people and be responsible for all aspects of our technology including software engineering, infrastructure, data, security, and technical operations. We need an experienced, hands-on leader who can lead by example while developing best practices software development and mentoring a team of engineers and related roles. The CTO will be part of our senior leadership team and will report to the CEO and co-founder. The majority of our engineering and technical team is located in Medellin, Colombia and Montreal, Canada so working on a US East Coast time zone is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and communicate a compelling technical vision and roadmap aligned with Talent.com’s mission and business objectives
  • Develop/implement technology strategy – working closely with executive leadership team to ensure alignment with overall business goals
  • Manage a widely distributed team of software engineers and related roles (30-40 currently)
  • Define best practices around coding methodologies, software development, and quality assurance
  • Establish a high performing, inclusive engineering team and culture focused on innovation and execution; design team structures that enable us to achieve a high level of performance
  • Set a high bar for our overall engineering practices across development, process, communication, and documentation
  • Define best practices around coding methodologies, software development, and quality assurance
  • Provide strategic guidance to the product development process, leveraging the latest technologies to create impactful solutions
  • Develop project estimates to assist leadership in making informed product investment decisions
  • Apply deep understanding of machine learning, and deep learning to incorporate AI-driven insights and features into our platform and product
  • Own the shortandlong term data roadmap for supporting engineering, data science, product and the full business
  • Bring maturity to the tech organization from a process and people standpoint while balancing technical and product innovation
  • Uplevel and grow team members  

Job requirements:

  • Experience managing large, cross-functional teams of software engineers, infrastructure engineers and technical operations specialists across multiple time zones
  • Problem solver with a hands-on approach and the ability to anticipate adverse scenarios with thoughtful solutions to address them
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of adapting style to different audiences and stakeholders, both internally and externally representing the company in front of customers and potential investors
  • Resilient and able to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with a sense of urgency and bias for action
  • Ability to drive technical direction and execution through teams and enable others
  • Entrepreneurial mentality with a passion for our mission and building a highly successful company
  • 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams
  • Experience in Job search, HR Tech, or marketplace businesses
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
